I recently visited Washington D.C. to visit one of my best friends who got a job working at a theater there. It was a total girls weekend full of lots of theater, heart talks until 3 am every night, hitting the town, and eating yummy food.
I used to visit DC often when I was a kid, but this was the first time I’ve been as an adult. It was such a chill city with plenty to see & do (not only for the poli sci, history buffs, but for your theater & eatin lovin friends too)

My impression of D.C. is that everyone was so friendly! We went out one night and walked into this bar where everyone was belting out Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” and it felt so wholesome & fun.
Let’s dive into my lil guide below!
Theater
Y’all know this is the first on my list since it was one of the main reasons for me visiting. Surprisingly, DC has a poppin’ theater scene. My friend works at Arena Stage, one of the biggest regional theaters in the country. I saw both Anything Goes and Indecent. Both were fab & profesh & Anything Goes featured none other than Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth anyone?). It was a good time, for sure.
Check out some other famous theaters in the area: Studio Theater, Woolly Mammoth, Signature, Shakespeare Theatre Company, and the Kennedy Center.
History & Monuments
A trip to DC isn’t complete without visiting at least some of the monuments. I had a little too much fun getting that perfect shot 😉

I loved that most of the monuments were all in walking distance AND there are segways all over the place that you can rent & ride. My friends and I took full advantage and we had a blast trying to navigate the streets zooming by on our scooters.
Georgetown
The cutest little neighborhood for all your shopping dreams. I could walk these streets for hours. We had brunch here and it was the perf place to window shop for christmas presents.
Georgetown Cupcake
You must visit the BEST cupcake store ever (they also have
locations in NYC)
Try the cheesecake flavored cupcakes! Like an actual mini cheesecake.
DC Wharf
This was such a cute, upscale area right next to the Bay. You know this merm loves being by water. There were plenty of places to eat & we stumbled upon the cutest DIY S’mores by a fire.

Toastique
gourmet toasts, smoothies galore! This was the most delish toast place I wanted to try all of them! I got the buratta & tomato toast and it was divine.

Where have you been in DC? There are plenty of museums to go to, whatever it is make sure you hit up some of these fun spots!
xoxo,
Merm Ley
